A super simple oversized cropped sweater with an easy “knit and purl” geometric pattern on a background of textured reverse stocking stitch. The cropped construction and plenty of ease make this extremely flattering. The dk weight yarn mean it’s both cosy and quick to knit.

We work from the top down using a simple construction. We cast on stitches at the shoulder and work down the back to the underarm with a little short row shaping at the shoulders. Stitches are picked up at each shoulder and worked down the front to the underarm, shaping the neckline as we go. All stitches are joined in the round and worked straight down to the hem with a simple geometric design and a deep band of ribbing. We pick up stitches around each armhole for the sleeves. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and worked in ribbing.

I knitted the bulk of this sweater while on my autumn half term holiday in a cosy cottage in the Scottish Highlands.
Sitting by the fireside knitting this in a beautiful autumnal shade of golden yellow inspired the name for this cosy sweater.
