This blanket was made and designed for my niece Ava, who was sadly stillborn. The lace-weight yarn was used as such a small baby would have been swamped in anything heavier. A second ‘memory blanket’ was also completed for her parents to keep. Although the pattern for this blanket is free if you feel able to donate to the Sands stillbirth charity in Ava’s memory to hopefully prevent other parents having to go through the same tragedy please find the website address here:

The blanket shown used less that 400m of laceweight yarn.
The pattern shows how to add lace repeats and could be made in a heavier yarn for a more substantial blanket.
The blanket was heavily blocked to get st tension.
Tension is not critical
