These Awesome Felted Oven Mitts knitted with Bernat Natural Felting Wool are so thick they protect your hand even when removing a very hot iron skillet from the oven. I’ve made dozens of them for friends and family and ALL agree they couldn’t live without them now that they’ve used them. Spot clean or hand wash & air dry. !!!!BE SURE NOT TO PUT THEM IN HOT WATER OR A DRYER!!!!

The yardage listed is for 2 mitts. I knit them 2-at-a-time on one long (60”) circular needle. Instructions for felting are included on the last page of the pattern.

These are knit from the fingertips up past the wrist exactly the same as knitting toe-up socks from the toes up the leg.

Materials:
-160 yds of 100% wool or other feltable (non-superwash) animal fiber - worsted weight requires 2 strands or double the yarn listed; bulky or super bulky requires 1 strand. I use Bernat Felting Yarn, single strand. This felts up really thick. I’ve used these in my kitchen for several years and they handle anything hot … even iron skillets used in the oven.
-12” of cotton such as Sugar N Cream for thumb stitch holders
-US 11 circular (40”-60” cables for 2-at-a-time mitts
-US 11 double pointed needles.for the thumb – 5 ea
-A yarn needle or crochet hook to weave in ends.
