Shallow waters meet the sandy heads at the Awhitu peninsula. This striped shawl with applied lace edging is knit at a loose gauge. The striped body moves to an airy sideways knit edging that is attached as you work.

CONSTRUCTION
Awhitu is a shallow triangular shawl, constructed from the top down. The pattern has you work the body of the shawl in striped garter stitch, forming a long shallow triangle. Once a specific stitch count is reached, an lace applied edging is worked sideways along the body.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • blocking a shawl
  • picking up stitches
  • provisional cast-on (optional) If you are not familiar with these techniques you may need to reference a knitting guide book, or view videos on the internet.
