This adorable pattern is adapted from a vintage pattern which was available from multiple yarn companies - Bear Brand, Fleisher, Bucilla, and Columbia to name a few! - in the 1930s-1950s. The basic design is the same, with some updates to account for modern knitters and sizing.

YARN: The Fibre Co. Canopy Fingering, 50% baby alpaca,
30% merino wool, 20% viscose from bamboo; 200 yds/50
gm skein): fern, 3 (4) skeins.
GAUGE: 32 sts + 44 rows = 4” (10 cm) in St st on larger
needles after blocking.
NEEDLES: 1 pair US 2 - (2.75 mm) straights. 1 pair US 1
(2.25 mm) straights.
NOTIONS: Tapestry needle, stitch marker, 2.75 mm
crochet hook, waste yarn or stitch holder.
SIZE: To fit 0-6 (6-12) months. Please see schematic for detailed finished measurements.
SKILLS: Yarn overs, decreases and single crochet.
