Handspun is art, it should be shown off, but when you only have a small amount, what can you do? This tea cozy is the perfect way to show off your single skein of bulky handspun. Fibre type won’t matter much, as long as you use a warm type such as wool or cashmere. Also, the construction of the yarn is up to you. For this project, I used a 2 ply that is quite elastic.

The cozy is worked flat, and seamed, to ensure that the holes for the handle and spout are in the right places. It is easily customizable, simply cast on more or less stitches to fit your teapot, and knit until the height will cover the lid. Ribbing is used at the handle and spout to ensure that the cozy will go on easily, and fit snuggly. Crochet chains are used to cinch the top and bottom edges, but icord can be used instead.
