Once upon a time, I ran a Local Yarn Store. When a customer was working on the Karin Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clark, I immediately envisioned a mashup between the darling heart lace pattern in that shawl and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February Baby Sweater — how apropos that Valentine’s Day falls in February!

The original release of this pattern was a much simpler, one-size-fits-most sweater, much like Zimmerman’s work of genius. This update includes five sizing options for infants to 24 mos, as well as instructions for a sleeveless version for summer babes. I hope it brings tremendous love and joy to those who knit and receive it.

  • 1-2 skeins Oink Pigments Sport, shown in ‘Stupid Cupid’ (12 mos size, sleeveless) and ‘REDRUM’ (24 mos size, with sleeves). 1 skein Oink Sport for sleeveless version of all sizes or sleeved version of Infant, 6 mos, or 12 mos sizes. 2nd skein may be needed for sleeved version of 18 mos and 24 mos sizes.

  • 3 small buttons

  • US Size 6 straight needles (or circulars) or size needed to get gauge

  • DPNs (or long circulars for magic loop) in the same size for sleeves (optional)
