When I saw a customer working on the Karin Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clark, my first thought was that the heart-shaped lace would be absolutely precious as a replacement for the gull-lace in the February Baby Sweater by Elizabeth Zimmerman from Knitter’s Almanac. After a lot of math and the assistance of several dedicated test-knitters, I am thrilled to present this pattern for the Baby Valentine Sweater.
Pattern is available in hard-copy at the shop for just $4.00 with purchase of yarn.
The sweater can be altered for larger sizes by increasing both yarn weight and needle size. For example, a worsted weight yarn and size 9 or 10 needles would make a toddler-sized sweater.
Materials:
- 1 skein (roughly 300 yards) sock yarn (a solid or semisolid color works best)
- Needles 2-3 sizes larger than recommended for your yarn (size 5 or 6 for fingering-weight yarn; circulars work better than straights)
- (Optional) Same sized DPNs or long circular for magic loop
- Crochet hook
- Waste yarn
- Darning Needle
- Buttons
