Meet our adorable Baby Whale & Narwhal. They’re cute, cuddly and very lovable. This pattern supplies directions for making both a Baby Whale and a Baby Narwhal.

This Baby Whale & Narwhal pattern is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches, knitting short rows and other standard knitting terms. Our Baby Whale & Narwhal are knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 22 m of medium weight light blue (LB) coloured yarn, 2 m of medium weight white (W) coloured yarn and a small amount of black (B) yarn for embroidering the face. Stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your whale and narwhal together. This will let you create a baby whale that’s approximately 11 cm (4.5 inches) in length and a baby narwhal that’s approximately 13 cm (5 inches) in length.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
