Meet our knit Shark. He’s cute, cuddly and is looking forward to meeting you. This pattern supplies directions for making our Shark.

This Shark is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Shark is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 60 m of medium weight dark grey (DG) coloured yarn, and 25 m of medium weight light grey (LG) yarn. With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your shark together. This will let you create a shark that’s approximately 22 cm (9 inches) in length.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
