This simple cardigan for a young baby (0-3 months) is a modern interpretation of traditional fair-isle patterns. The pattern assumes that you know how to read a chart, knit stranded colorwork, and work a steek.

The cardigan is knit in the round, bottom up and includes a steeked front. Sleeves are knit in the round separately, joined to the body at the underarm, and the yoke is knit in the round with decrease stitches giving it a raglan-like fit.

The original color palette was inspired by the New Mexico desert, but the pattern has blank spaces so that you can easily pick your own selection of colors.
