This simple cardigan for a young baby (6 month size) is a modern interpretation of traditional fair-isle patterns. The pattern assumes that you know how to read a chart, knit stranded colorwork, and work a steek.

The cardigan is knit in the round, bottom up and includes a steeked front. Sleeves are knit in the round separately, joined to the body at the underarm, and the yoke is knit in the round with decrease stitches giving it a raglan-like fit.

The original color palette was inspired by the New Mexico desert, but the pattern has blank spaces so that you can easily pick your own selection of colors.

Note: The pattern was originally described as fitting 0-3 months but is better described as the next size up instead, 6-9 months.
