Baby’s cardigan with colour blocks from Stitchcraft, October 1956.

Materials: 1 oz each White and Pale Blue of Patons Beehive Baby Wool, 3-ply. No. 11 (2.75 mm) and No. 10 (3.00 mm) needles. Five small matching blue buttons.

Measurements: Width round underarms, 19 inches; length from top of shoulders, 9.5 inches; sleeve seam, 4.5 inches.

Tension: 8 sts and 10 rows to an inch in stocking-stitch on No. 11 needles.

Knitted in 2 pieces from the bottom up with cast-on dolman sleeves. The button bands are knit separately vertically and sewn on. The cuffs are picked up around the sleeves and knit in rib. The flowers are embroidered on in loop-stitch.
