This casual unisex hat features staggered layers of ribbing intended to provide extra warmth over the top of the ears. The ribbed borders are worked separately and then joined together before working the body of the hat in stockinette.

This hat is sized for adult small, medium and large based on head circumferences of 20.5”, 22” and 23.5” respectively. This hat is intended to be worn with negative ease and pulled down so that the double layer of ribbing covers the top of the ears.

This pattern is particularly suitable for natural wool and tweedy yarns which contribute to its outdoorsy character. The hat requires approximately 120 yards of the main color and 15 yards of the contrast color.

Skills Required:

  • Basic hat knitting skills
  • Working medium and small circumferences in the round
