Baerlic Vest
This pullover vest is worked with two fingering-weight strands held together to create a subtle marl. A motif formed with dip stitches decorates the reverse stockinette base fabric on the front, while the back is plain. This design invites you to customize—opt for a cropped length, as shown, or a regular length vest with gentle A-line shaping. Work a split hem with extra length on the back, or not. Knit a folded cowl neck or choose a simple rolled neckline. It’s up to you, and if you can’t decide, you can always knit more than one!
Yarn: Hinterland Dusk (70% Rambouillet wool / 30% alpaca, 112g, 400 yds, single-ply woolen-spun fingering weight). Strands of two colors are held together to achieve an Aran-weight gauge. Sample shown in Honey and Maple.
Crop Length with Rolled Neck: 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins or 357 (398, 441, 475, 509, 545, 580, 625, 664, 714, 755) yds of each color.
Crop Length with Turtle/Cowl Neck: 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3) skeins or 450 (495, 535, 575, 610, 645, 683, 725, 775, 825, 866) yds of each color.
Regular Length with Rolled Neck: 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3) skeins or 450 (502, 555, 596, 639, 684, 729, 782, 829, 889, 943) yds of each color.
Regular Length with Turtle/Cowl Neck: 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3) skeins or 545 (597, 651, 697, 740, 785, 829, 882, 939, 1000, 1054) yds of each color.
Be sure to allow additional yardage if you think you’ll want to add length or split sizes to accommodate a fuller front.
