This poncho utilizes a combination of the beautiful linen stitch for the body and the Elizabeth stitch for the border. Made in a solid color it will create a very simple, but elegant look, or make one using lots of color variations for everyday wear. This could be the perfect way to use up all of those leftover yarn balls.

I apologize that I am unable to identify the exact fiber or total yardage used for my original sample. I believe it compares in weight and feel to Lion Brand Mandala yarn. It could easily be made in ANY yarn weight, simply use the appropriate hook size recommended on the yarn label and make each section to a length that you desire.

My Poncho Inspiration

Oh how I miss the crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, amazing ocean wildlife, pleasant breeze and the serenity of the beautiful tropical islands found in the Bahamas. It is a paradise to behold and one that I am so fortunate to have been able to experience.

At the time that I purchased the yarn for this pattern, I had no idea what it was going to be. I only knew that the color and weight of the fiber reminded me of the beautiful turquoise waters that stretch for more than 700 miles. Designing this poncho has given me an opportunity to reflect on so many wonderful things that happened while visiting: the amazing people that I met and friends I made, the places I visited and sailing adventures my husband and I had while fulfilling our lifelong dream of traveling to the Bahamas in our sailboat.

I hope that any project you may make using this design gives you an opportunity to reflect on people, places and events in your life and that it brings back happy memories for you as well.
