The design for Bailly is all about the fit, the details and the clean, simple lines. Every technique used to create this sweater is focused on highlighting those lines, without being overpowering or showy. The timeless and understated aesthetic of this piece will work with most body types and styles.

SIZES
XS (S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X).
Finished bust measurements: 82 (88.5, 97, 107.5, 118, 128.5, 139) cm / 32.25 (34.75, 38.25, 42.25, 46.5, 50.5, 54.75)”
The sweater is intended to be worn with approximately 5 cm / 2” of positive ease at full bust. Sample is shown in size S with horizontal bust darts and 2.5 cm / 1” of positive ease.

CONSTRUCTION
Bailly is knit from the top down in one piece. Stitches for the upper body are picked up from the shoulder straps, that are worked first. The front and back of the upper body are worked flat down to the underarms, where the piece is joined to work in the round. The body features darted waist shaping that hits a little higher than the natural waistline.
Sleeves are worked from the top down using short rows to shape the sleeve caps, extending from the shoulder saddles.

The pattern includes instructions for horizontal bust darts. The darts are optional; instructions for a sweater with and without darts are given.

PHOTO TUTORIAL
Bailly features a distinctive and unique neckline and cuff treatment. The technique used results in a double ribbing, attached to the outside and bound off simultaneously. This results in a decorative double chain of bound off stitches. Because I’ve not seen something like it before, there’s a step-by-step photo tutorial included in the pattern.
