The Balsam Hollow shawl was originally created for the Green Gables Kit from Little Skein in the Big Wool and is inspired by Anne of Green Gables.

The shawl is knitted from the top down in simple garter stitch. A leafy lace border emerges from the garter stitch body. Instructions for the lace are both written and charted.

There are two sizes, standard and extended (medium and large). You will need approximately 500 to 600 yds of sport weight yarn such as 2 skeins of Leading Men Fiber Arts Callback.

Skill level is advanced beginner.

ERRATUM: There was a small error in the original instructions, which was corrected in the digital form on November 24. 2014.

Page 7 row 28 (written instructions for chart) had one extra p3 in it. The pattern was updated on 11/12/14. It now reads as follows:

Row 28: K2, p2, k3, p9, k3, p9, k3; rep from 7 more times, p9, k3, p2, p1, p2, k3, p9, k3, rep from * to ** 8 more times, p9, k3, p2, k2.
