The contrast between the plain stocking stitch knitting and the texture and colors from the block of tiny buttons makes this pillow a wonderful accent in any room…. and don’t tell anyone but its really not difficult to create the look!

The stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch pattern would be great for a beginner knitter. Once the knitting is complete your pillow cover is ready to be embellished with buttons …. lots and lots of buttons. It does take quite some time to sew them in place, but well worth the effort for a wonderful effect.

The pillow cover measures 20”x12”/50x30cm and is knit using a medium/#4/aran/worsted yarn.

In the photos above I used close to 500 tiny buttons in a similar color to the yarn for a monochromatic look, but you could use fewer larger buttons or a mixture of sizes and whatever colorway you like to make your own unique accent pillow.
