I bought this beautiful merino fingering weight yarn while I was at one of the most romantic weddings I have ever been to. The location was the stunning Gougane Barra in County Cork in Ireland and I found the yarn in a gorgeous wee yarn shop in Bantry the next day.

The yarn, hand dyed by The Moon and Sixpence, was so beautiful and the colours so subtle but full of vibrancy that I fell in love with it immediately. I wanted a nice roomy squishy lace shawl in two colours, to remind me of my wonderful stay, so here she is, the Bantry Shawl!

The shawl uses two colours and is knit from the top down starting with a garter tab. The flower section is knit in Colour A and then blends into a striped section with Colour B before the edging is knit on in Colour B.

The shawl uses garter and stocking stitch and has a simple lace that is patterned every other row.

Perfect for cuddling up with on a late Summer’s Eve.
