Barista is a very ‘Quick and Easy’ scarf that can be knitted in approximately 4 hours. Great to make for that spare of the moment gift that is needed.

First, a little history. I belong to a knitting group that has been meeting weekly at our local Starbucks since 2005. Our group varies from 10-15 each week. Every year, we knit the Baristas (the entire crew) scarves, hats, gloves…whatever they want for Christmas as a ‘Thank You’ to them for allowing our group to be a part of them.

This year (2013), my Barista ‘Laura’ wanted a scarf that was long, thick, and chunky. I just happened to have Lamb’s Pride Bulky and a pair of Addi Turbo Size #19 Circs in my stash that I thought would be perfect! I had never knitted with anything larger than a Size #13 and thought I might have trouble knitting with #19’s especially since I have very small hands. I actually found that I love knitting with this size. In my excitement, I have decided to share my pattern and results with all of you!

My pattern is knitted, however could easily be modified for crochet by using a large crochet hook with either double or treble crochet.

Enjoy!
