When I got my hands on this yarn from GothFarm I was instantly reminded of my grandma (though I must say, this yarn is nicer than anything my grandma would have ever knitted!)
My grandma was a practical knitter, everything she made had a purpose. One of her usual knits were thick, wooly socks that were worn while working outside in the barn or hunting. They were always made with thick gray wool, knitted tightly to keep the feet dry and help prevent blisters. My dad and uncle have the last two precious pairs of grandma’s socks and it has fallen to me to knit them now.

These socks are worked top down, feature an easy to remember Knit/Purl pattern in the leg, a heel flap with gusset, and a standard toe closed with kitchener stitch.
