I usually use much smaller needles than recommended. You may need bigger ones to obtain gauge.

This is a basic hat worked in the round . The lower band is seed stitch, but moss stitch or ribbing 1X1 can also be used, especially if it is for a man. The rest is stockinette st.

The model took under one 100gr. ball.
