“I found my first J.B. Bean and Associates bear while teaching a workshop at a yarn store in New Hampshire. When the shop owner asked me if I was going to knit a sweater for the bear, I thought it was a great idea. I dressed ten bears as Christmas presents, and KNITTING FOR BEARS--A BEAR IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING was born.

Instructions are written for worsted weight yearn with directions for sport yarn in (). Less than an ounce of yarn required. Needles 6 and 8 (2 and 4). DPNs nos 6 (2). Crochet hook F (E).

Gauge: 18 (24) sts. = 4 inches on larger needles.

NOTE: If you are working at another gauge, use the diagram for measurements. Multiply your gauge X the width (4.5 inches) to determine the number of sts to cast on.“

The pattern includes variations to the Basic Vest Pattern: Bear Frock, Fisherbear Vest, Bulky Bear Cable Vest.
