This is the master pattern for the machine knitting notebook. It is a very basic classic sweater with many suggested hems, trims and necklines. It is given in short and long sleeves. Other patterns in the Kniting Notebook will build on this one so the skills learned knitting this first sweater will gradually develope your ability to make fancier designs. This one, though simple, need not be plain. More advanced knitters can use it as a basis for intarsia, duplicate stitch and other artistic touches.
