I wanted to design something for a man that wasn’t your run of the mill sweater/scarf/gloves/hat/etc. This is for an adult men’s jockstrap, but it could easily be resized for a boy.

You’ll need 1 ball of fixation (or other similar elasticized yarn) and one ball of sock yarn.

Instructions are given for a knitted waistband and straps, but you can substitute commercial elastic if you so desire.

If you decide to knit both the waistband and straps, you’ll need to buy an extra ball of fixation.

You’ll probably have leftover yarn.

  • Sewing elastic (if you don’t want to knit the waistband and/or straps) 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide (for legs) (cut one length to make both legs. It folds in half) 2-3 inch (5.08 – 7.62 cm) wide for waistband Length: Both the strap elastic and the waist elastic should be cut to the waist measurement minus 7 inches/18 cm Example: Wearer’s waist is 36 inches. You’d cut a strip of the 1-inch elastic at 29 inches (36-7=29) and a strip of wider elastic at 29 inches.
  • Needle and thread for sewing pouch to elastic straps and elastic waistband.
  • Thimble
  • Yarn needle for weaving ends
  • 3 Stitch markers
