This pattern is a great way to use up oddments of left-over sock yarn. It knits up quickly and is very cosy!

Errata: Oops - the pattern doesn’t say how long to make the hat, which a couple of people have now spotted. I no longer have the sample, but I would guess about 4-6 inches from the end of the increases, plus extra for turnup if you want that, depending on the age of the baby. Check it on the baby’s head if you can!
