Please note that this pattern is exclusive to Super Sock Scarefest 2022 until November 1, 2022.

Toe-up socks with alternating blocks of brioche and garter on the instep and leg. The sole is stocking stitch (yes, that makes the sole longer - less heel turn needed!) with a band of ribbing running down the centre for added elasticity and heel-shaping. The top of the heel-“flap” is also 1x1 ribbed for extra fit.

Designed for Super Sock Scarefest 2022 and inspired by the movie “Basketweave” which features a safe basket to hide in, and multitudes of (at best) B-movie insanity.

Yarn - fingering (UK 4-ply) weight, 80 grams / 320.0 meters, one colour (non-variegated works best), but can be knitted with more or less equal weights of two colours (at least one of them non-variegated).
Could also be scrap-yarn for longish bits of scrap.
You could also use, say, a DK and just knit a smaller size.

I used 2mm/US0 needles (two circs) and am a loose knitter. (Samples used 50-72g for two of the three sizes.)

Notions:
4 stitch markers (needle-gaps can replace two of those), more if you want to mark repeats (+8).

Not really suited for beading.

Pattern is divided into S/M/L sections and subdivided for the two types and charted or written instructions so you can print only what you need, if you’re making a hardcopy.
