I have sewn almost 700 face masks for the Masks for the Frontlines Iowa Facebook group and others so far this year. They went to frontline workers, teachers and school children, family and friends. Each batch would be lined up and a photo taken to report how many we had finished. We had drawn our “battle lines” in the fight to stop the spread of COVID19. The simple Latvian designs that decorate the upper part of this hat reminded me of the rows of finished masks from those photos.

This nice, thick hat has a garter stitch band to block the wind. It will keep your ears warm in the coldest of weather. The chunky weight yarn makes it a quick knit while the stranded designs keeps it interesting.

Sizes: Small 18.5”(Large 20”) the garter stitch band is very stretchy and fits a wide range of head sizes comfortably.

Yarn: Chunky yarn of your choice. MC: 100 yds (91m); CC: 35 yds (32m) approximately.

Sample: Made with Lion Brand Wool-ease Chunky 153yds (140m)/5oz (140g) – 3oz Orchid (MC),1oz White or Wheat (CC).
