I love Bavarian crochet! If you do too, you’ll enjoy making this summer hat/bonnet. If you’ve never done the Bavarian stitch before this is a great pattern to learn on.

The pattern includes three sizes: newborn, 6 months to 1 year, and child.

You will need one mostly full skein of DK weight yarn for your main color and a partial skein for the contrasting color on the brim. The pattern calls for a size E/3.5 mm hook. You will also need about 1 yard of 1/4 inch width ribbon.

I used my personal favorite, Kraemer Yarns Tatamy (3.5 oz) skeins, but any cotton blend will do. A cotton blend works best to give it a light and summary feel. If you prefer it to be a winter hat then use whatever kind of DK that your heart desires.

Happy crocheting!!!
