Because Rainbow Mitts
The Because Rainbow Mitts celebrate love- all love- and the beauty that is created when all forms of love are free to bloom. This pattern is meant to honor our queer youth as they search to find themselves and a place for their love in this world. It also honors our straight youth as they navigate allyship in the midst of adolescent turbulence. It recognizes and shows respect for those who are now grown and have experienced the challenges of youth through either of these lenses. Because Rainbow is a stranded mitt pattern that is great for stash busting. It contains charts for the two options shown above (on the left in the Rainbow Lite Mitts and on the right in the Double Rainbow Mitts).

Yarn
For the Double Rainbow Mitts: 10g, 40yds each of 7 colors and 10g, 40yds for the ribbing of fingering weight yarn
For the Rainbow Lite Mitts: 5g, 20yds each of 7 colors and 40g, 160yds of a solid background color
Quantities are given for the largest pair of mitts. From a 10g mini set kit and a 50g solid from A Busy Life Yarn, I was able to get a pair of mitts for each chart or four mitts total.
Gauge
Blocked: 32 stitches and 38 rows in 4in or 10cm in pattern
Rather than knit a gauge swatch in the round, I just cast on my mitt and gamble- perhaps I will meet gauge the first time and get to keep going, or perhaps that was my gauge swatch and I have to start again. But why have to start again for sure?!
Needles
2US, 2.75mm needles for your favorite method of knitting in the round
Notions
Open and close stitch markers to mark increases, scrap yarn, darning needle,
Size 1, (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
To fit hand circumference of 5.75 (6.75, 7.75, 8.75, 9.75, 10.75, 11.75) with 1 inch negative ease
