This stunning shawl is begun at the lower back point and worked up. The knitted body of it is worked in garter stitch, with wrapped short rows for shaping. The long top edge is formed with an I-cord cast-off. Much of the glory and distinction of the piece is in the crocheted border: This is where the (1,400!) beads are used, and it gives immense flow and drama to the garment. Gauge is given pre-blocking.
