I was asked to make a “Spirit Animal” of myself! This might have been the biggest no-brainer ever! Some things were especially important, however:

  • I need to be a Unicorn.
  • Purple hair is a must- but it has to be a disaster of hair!
  • PJ’s must be worn.

Thus: Bedhead PJ Unicorn is me, in yarn form, and I love her.

This pattern is crocheted from the bottom-up and joined in-the-round except for the head.

PJ’s are created using simple flat pieces sewn together. A small amount of embroidery is used for kitty faces (In real-life I would have unicorn faces, but that just seemed wrong for PJ)!

Yarn: 150 yards worsted weight in glitter white; small amount of pink, purple, silver. 100 yards cotton in pale pink and white for PJ’s and T-shirt.
 Embroidery thread: Pale pink and silver grey for kitty faces.
 Safety eyes (if used): 10mm green. (This is my spirit animal and I’ve got green eyes, you may use your own eye color if you like)
 2mm black beads (4) for cat slipper eyes.
 Darning needle.
 Felting needle/black/white/green yarn fluff (optional) for eyes (or embroidery thread).
 Wire cat brush for mane, tail (optional but needed for bedhead).
 Polyfil. I use Polyfil brand crafter’s choice dry polyester packing for doll making; I find this works the most effectively with shaped/sculpted pieces without over-stretching stitches.
 Hook: 3.5mm (or similar). 6.0mm for T-shirt.
