Begonias Hat
The combination of pink and white in the modeled hat reminded me of the begonias in my aunt’s garden; every spring she plants a variety that’s pink rimmed and white in the center. When I was a child, seeing those flowers told me that lazy summer days were not too far away. Hopefully this hat can tide you over during the chilly months until your own lazy summer can begin, or if made in a cooler fiber like cotton or linen, be a fashionable hair cozy in the warmer months.
The choice of colors impacts how the finished hat looks. In pastels and white it looks very traditional and feminine, in bolder colors it looks more contemporary and masculine, and in brights it looks more modern and fun. Whether with bright contrasts or a more subtle contrast, the styling of the hat can really change based on color choice.
Instructions are given for using 2 colors of lace weight yarn, though adaptation to other yarn weights is easy if you are comfortable using charts and using gauge math to ensure that the ribbed brim will fight correctly.
