Beitilyng is a unisex sweater pattern that is worked seamlessly from the top down. It is a modern interpretation of the traditional Icelandic sweater. The pattern was named after the Icelandic word for the Calluna vulgaris, or common heather, that grows all over Europe.

There are 6 sizes available for a chest circumference of 35 (38.5, 41.5, 45, 48, 51) inches or 89 (98, 105, 114, 122, 130) cm. A schematic and measurements table is included to determine the appropriate size.

You will need approximately 945 (1080, 1240, 1400, 1575, 1745) yards or 860 (990, 1130, 1280, 1440, 1595) meters of worsted weight yarn in 3 different colours, see sizing chart in pattern for details.
The sample was knit in a single strand of Istex Plötulopi (100% wool, 328 yards or 300 meters per 100 grams) in dark grey heather (MC), light berry heather (CC1), and berry heather (CC2).

Other materials required are knitting needles for working large circumferences in the round, needles for working small circumferences in the round, at least 1 stitch marker, waste yarn, and a tapestry needle.

The pattern is written in English and the PDF file contains 6 pages. Basic instructions are 4 pages and then there are 2 pages for charts.

A big thank you goes to my test knitters: alpacahotep, BR7394, carolfitz2, GimmeYarn418, Hottann, Niemiecp, QtMousie, and Sidheseer.
