Please note: if you plan to make the larger (shawl) size, I recommend purchasing 3 skeins of Artesano Handpainted Alpaca Blend 4ply to ensure you have sufficient yarn.

The shawl starts with a small garter stitch tab from which stitches are picked up to begin the shawl.

This shawl should be manageable for intermediate knitters who have worked a lace pattern before. The lace pattern of buds of increasing size developing into flowers may look complex, but every WS row is purled (apart from the garter stitch edge) and between the buds and flowers are simple columns of lace trellis which are easy to memorize. The lace is charted and has written instructions as well, so you can use whichever you prefer. Stitch markers are also placed throughout the lace border to help keep track of pattern repeats.

All this makes the lace pattern much easier and quicker than it looks!
