Belles and Bobbles is a sweet one-skein project, inspired by the release of the new movie version of “Beauty and the Beast” – but if you have extra yarn, you can make it bigger! With lots of lace and bobbles, the shawlette can totally be chic enough for a festive outfit (one of my samples has sparkles…. extra fancy!) as well as be worn for a trip to the library – It’s big enough to cover a bare back or prevent a chilly cleavage, but also nicely scrunchable for more of a scarflette style.

There are endless options for your personal version of this fun and playful piece - speckled, solid or multi-colored, or even alternating stripes (stash busting, anyone?) will work!

About the pattern:

This heart-shaped shawlette is worked top-down from the center, with increases in every other row; it only takes one skein of fingering weight yarn for the size shown in the pictures, but the pattern is fully adjustable.

Materials:

420 yds (or more) of fingering weight yarn.
3.0mm / US 2.5 - 40” or longer circular needle
2 stitch markers
Darning needle

The sparkly green, white and pink sample was made using:
1 skein of Canon Hand Dyes Oscar Sparkle Sock (100g / 420 yds) in ‘Honeydukes’

The purple, fuchsia and gold sample was made using:
1 skein of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (100g / 430 yds) in ‘Tale as Old as Time’

Gauge:

Not important for this project; pattern repeats on the samples were about 2” high before blocking.
