Hi there!

This is ‘Beretta’ - a slouchy hat, worked in the round on 5.0mm/US 8 and 9.0mm/US 13 needles.

Final size:
Circumference: 55cm/21 inch
Height: 26 cm/10 inch

It’s a quick, neat knit that only uses 2x2 ribbing and decreases.
I’d say it takes only 4 hours to make this hat, but one of my lovely test knitters, nilpferdus, only took 2 and a half.

This was test-knit by nilpferdus, as mentioned above, and shirlee0109 - whom I want to thank at this moment: Thanks for doing the test knit, helping me out and providing additional information so I could make this as best as I could.

The perfect yarn for this is Schachenmayr SMC Boston Sun, or the color variations Boston Sun Pastell and Boston Sun Classic.
Shown here is Boston Sun Classic 00130. It’s soft, smooth yarn that works up very quickly and comes in 100g skeins, and one is all you need for the hat.

WARNING: I am not exaggerating the amount of yardage. You will use up almost all of the yarn - I had 4 meters left - and nilpferdus even less. If you think you are in danger of running out of yarn, start your decreases a bit earlier, by 1cm or so.

Shirlee0109 mentioned that the ribbing edge is wide enough to fold, so you can wear it as a cap.
