I was inspired by Pia Kaukinen’s beautiful crescent-shaped shawl, Perlata Pitsigootti-huivi. For my design, a top-down stockinette triangle is knitted first, then the lace edging is worked.

Errata: Chart rows 2 & 4 for the nupp stitches -- they should be worked on the wrong side as P, not K. Chart row 5 also has changes to the ssk and k2tog at the beginning and end of each half of the shawl. Feb 10, 2011: I have uploaded a new PDF file, version 2.1 with the corrected chart.
