This is my variation of a traditional pattern adjusted to make a very heavy blanket. Some folks need some extra weight on them in order to sleep really well and weighted blankets are commercially available. This pattern makes a blanket that weighs a bit over 5 pounds (2400 grams) and does the trick without the neoprene and BBs used in the commercial weighted blankets.

The pattern is named for my son, Bernie, who loves a good, heavy, cotton blanket.
