Bessie is a pretty baby cardigan, worked in one piece, top down, with options for short or three-quarter length sleeves and button(s) or tie fastening.

Designed for Eden Cottage Yarns Keld Fingering (90% superwash merino, 10% linen), one skein (100g/360mm) is sufficient for all sizes. The smallest size (newborn) uses less than 50g/half a skein.

The shades of the samples in the photographs are Robin Egg and Meadow Rue.

Suitable for adventurous beginners comfortable working basic stitches, with simple shaping and increases.

As well as suitable yarn, you will need four removable stitch markers and one or three buttons, if choosing a button fastening.

The specified yarn works up to a slightly looser gauge than most 4ply yarn. The cardigan can be made with any 4ply/sock yarn, but I recommend checking the gauge and suggest choosing the next size up of the pattern, measuring as you go to ensure the correct fit.

This is a written pattern, including both US and UK terms.
