This shawl was designed as a prototype for shawls knit for our daughter’s wedding. One shawl was kept by the mother of the bride. The other shawl was for the mother of the groom. Knit in the wedding colors, with the placement reversed in each, the shawls represented the joining and blending of the 2 families.

The pattern is both charted and written. It begins by knitting the lace along the bottom of the shawl, then picking up stitches along the long edge and knitting the body of the shawl with short rows. The body of the shawl can be knit in stockinette or with the textured pattern shown in the pictures. Two skeins of contrasting Cascade Heritage Sock Yarn will complete the 2 shawls.
