I enjoy working with texture and “Between the Lanes” has a half bobble and twisted stitch. They are easy to perform and instructions will assist you if you have not tried this before. I am confident that a beginner is sure to be able to learn these new skills and enjoy this cowl. (see example of instructions below)

Wear it like it is pictured one of two ways. 1)The cozy cowl view is made by making a simple twist to the bottom half, making the shape of a figure eight, and bringing the bottom of the eight up over your head. Voila! “The Cowl” with character and pizazz! 2) Wear it like you would a scarf under your coat by placing it around the neck as in the first picture and then close the top together, placing one side over the other. The thing I like most about this is the absence of two loose ends that you may be unsure what to do with!
Enjoy! Happy to design, knit and publish… Kathy

Yarn Notes If you enjoy texture as I do you will want to stay away from super wash, or washable wools because some of the life has been removed from the wool to make it washable. You will get a much more defined and satisfying texture with a hand wash only wool or wool blend.

Learn some new skills with this cowl while knitting in the round;

  • Cable Cast On (optional)
  • Half Bobble
  • Half Twist

The pattern provides you with written instructions for each of these techniques. Example;

Half Bobble (fbf): Knit into front, back and front of stitch making 3 stitches, from one, lift the second and third stitch, together over the first or front/first stitch and off the needle. Note: your next stitch will be a purl stitch so as you move your yarn from back to front pull it snug to bring the nub fully forward to the front of your fabric.
