The original bag was worked in linen yarn with #0 needles. Any yarn and needle size can be used. If your book is larger, make a swatch of your yarn and thread and do some math. I included the numbers for the pattern repeats, so you can adjust the pattern for your own book.

I used 50 #6 or #8 beads on the lace edging.
