This is Big Bear. He is a sitting/standing bear with a big fat tummy and a tail. A simple seam across the top of his legs makes him a floppy bear and he’s totally huggable. He stands at 19 inches approximately.

I’ve included directions for contrast muzzle, ears and foot paw pads or he can be knitted in one yarn. Also included in the pattern are photographic very detailed construction instructions to help guide putting him together, but he’s a very easy knit and very easy to put together as his legs and body are knitted as one piece.

I use Ice yarn from Yarn Paradise but any faux fur that is normally knitted on 5-6mm needles is fine, it needs to be the thicker yarn. Aran/worsted weight is used for the optional contrasts.

The bear is knitted flat and I’ve written the instructions as basically as possible, I don’t use abbreviations as they can become confusing.

I use safety eyes and nose, but there is a template included in the pattern for a felt nose if you prefer.

I have also designed a whole wardrobe of outfits for this bear and I’ll be putting a PDF pattern on for the Big Bear plus outfits. If you don’t want to dress your bear, then this is the pattern for you, if you want to dress your bear please look for Big Bear plus Outfits.
