The Big Cabled Afghan is easy enough for an adventurous beginner, but its cables (and the prospect of having this warm snuggly blanket beside you all winter long) will keep even an experienced knitter engaged. Written with clear, simple instructions, the 14 row repeat is intuitive and easy to memorize. You can use the directions to easily alter the size or even the shape of the afghan, and can knit it in the pattern yarn (delicious!) or hold a Plucky worsted weight yarn like Trusty double.

The cables will be shown off to best advantage in a solid or near solid yarn, but don’t be afraid to swatch and play to your heart’s desire with this one.

Recommended: 14 skeins of The Plucky Knitter Snug, along with needles anywhere between a size 9 & 11 to give you a fabric you like, a few stitch markers, and a cable needle.
