This cowl design, inspired by Hidden Falls in Nerstrand Big Woods State Park, makes the most of one skein of highly variegated DK-weight yarn.

Three techniques highlight the colors in a beautiful hand-dye: garter stitch, knitting on the bias, and fringe. Optional short-row “ripples” add interest to the simply shaped piece, which is intended to give the feeling of water flowing over a waterfall.

The bandana-shaped cowl is worked flat and seamed, with optional short row details and optional fringe. When blocked, the top edge of the cowl is 22”, and the depth at the point of the cowl is 14”.
