This cowl is knit from the bottom up, beginning with a provisional cast on. The edge is bound off with an attached i-cord and then stitches are picked up and a border is worked in short rows to create an undulating wavy pattern. The border is repeated on the bottom edge.

Available in the Natural History of Knitting Yarn Adventure club. Our theme for 2019 is Maria Sibylla Merian’s Garden Flowers. Maria Sibylla Merian
 (1647–1717) was a German-born naturalist
and scientific illustrator. She was one of the
first naturalists to observe insects directly.
She painted from life, published her own
books of embroidery patterns and scientific studies, and travelled with her daughter to
South America to learn about plants and
 insects there.
