I started off with the theme “Birds in Flight” and it suddenly struck me when I was reading the Knit N’ Style magazine February 2011, they had used for 3 stitches in one of their sweaters that I thought would be great together in a child’s skirt. They were the Ribbed Lace Edge, Cable Lattice, and peplum stitch that seemed to call me and hence the idea for the start of my skirt pattern design was born.

This pattern is not for the beginner, but if you want to try new stitches and don’t mind being challenged then this pattern is for you.

This is a cute yet functional pinafore short skirt that any little girl would love especially if she loves to twirl - hence my name Birds in Flight. This will allow her to take flight to her fancy.

Note: Additionally, you will need a crochet hook #11 if you would like to do the optional beading.

This skirt was originally designed to be done in bulky yarn (5) but when in the testing phase, a Worsted Weight yarn was still able to obtain gauge.
