Having looked at various patterns for peacock feather afghans, I wanted to create something lighter, but still dense enough to be warm. This is the result.

Birds of a Feather is not only beautiful, it’s uniquely constructed to imitate the interlocking display of a peacock’s tail feathers. Designed for an Intermediate skill level, charted instructions of the background pattern are included at the end of the written pattern for those who prefer this method.

Colours are very important, so I have also included my online source for the specific yarns I used in the sample. The background shell pattern is meant to replicate the look of the long feather stocks of a real peacock’s tail.

It was a pleasure to design and work up this project. I hope you will also enjoy it.
