The inspiration for this pattern came from my Mum and Dad. My Dad absolutely loved to go fishing and my Mum knitted him big thick jumpers to keep him warm.

I have a vivid memory of Mum knitting those jumpers, using the same stitch pattern that I’ve used for the blanket. It produces such a warm and cosy fabric, perfect for keeping out the chilly English weather.

This is a simple and highly addictive thing to knit, and is incredibly meditative too.

The pattern includes 5 video tutorials, covering all the techniques you will need to complete the blanket.

It’s a perfect use for all those bits and bobs of precious yarn, and is designed to use up every last scrap of your leftovers. You hold the yarn double throughout the blanket, which gives you a beautiful watercolour effect. The I-cord border finishes it off perfectly.

Please note - this is NOT brioche stitch, but does have a similar look. Please also note that there are NO PURL stitches in this design.

I loved every single stitch of this blanket, and really hope you do too !
