This pattern is and intermediate pattern. The body of the pelican is worked on bulky weight yarns on size 10 1/2 needles as listed, while the throat pouch is worked with sport weight yarn on size 2 needles.

Colors used are approximately 120 yards light brown-gray(lb) wool yarn, 100 yards of medium brown-gray (mb) yarn, 50 yards of white (w)wool yarn, approximately 50 yards light yellow, 50 yards beige wool yarn, and 15 yards of dark brown (Dkb) yarn. The pattern also uses approximately 50 yards each of sport weight wool yarn in coral red and light orange on size 2 needles for the throat pouch. The fish is made with 10 yards of pale blue heavy weight wool yarn, and approximately 15 yards of olive green sport weight yarn. Simple crochet is used to add details on the feet. 9 mm yellow plastic eyes add the finishing touch. The project will be fulled after you are finished, so wool yarn is needed.
